Fringe Fest Touring 101
with Grant Knutson

Have a great (portable) fringe show? Want to tour it around to fringes and festivals like the Dallas Solo Fest in the U. S. and Canada? Join us for an intro to the logistics side of touring; the different ways fests pick & pay their artists, how to choose which fests will work best for you, how to schedule, budget & market on the road. The class will be a discussion, with the chance to check out marketing materials from different festivals and touring shows. Additionally, we'll schedule a personal follow-up with artists who want to discuss their individual shows doen the line. Through his company, Minion Productions, Grant Knutson helps independent artists develop their shows, fund raise and tour.

Embodied Narratives
with Brigham Mosley and Laura Hix

Through stories, we connect.  Our personal narratives are our stories, our process of meaning-making as we encounter the world around us.  Through personal narratives, we reflect on our past, make sense of our present, and imagine our future...and when these narratives are embodied and performed for others, they become a powerful point of connection.  In this two and half hour workshop, Director/Drama Therapist Laura Hix and Writer/Performer Brigham Mosley guide participants through a process of conjuring, scripting, and embodying these narratives, ultimately transforming them into evocative, original solo performance pieces.

Dates/Times: Saturday, June 6 @ 1:00 pm
Workshop duration: 2.5 hours
Intended for:  writers/performers
Cost of workshop: $30
Class limit: 15 people maximum

Whether you're looking for a way to begin writing the soloshow you've always wanted to do, or are looking for an opportunity to delve deeper into work previously written, this workshop will give you the tools to express your unique point of view by simply saying "yes and" to yourself.

Dates/Times: Saturday, June 6 @ 3:30 pm
Workshop duration: 2 hours
Intended for:  anyone (age 16+)
Cost of workshop: $25
Class limit: 16 people maximum

Free Your Voice
with Bremner Duthie

Too often performers are conditioned to think they have a "speaking voice" and a "singing voice” and struggle to shift easily between those two states. Yet, in fact, the voice we use to speak, laugh, cry, shout, scream and yawn is the same voice we use to sing. Whether you want to be a professional singer, or to launch into song in a theatre piece, or if you sing in a band, or if you want to free your speaking voice for the stage or other professional work, Bremner works on learning how to connect to your voice with an approach that is physically energizing, vocally freeing, and infinitely practical.

Bremner is a graduate of the voice program of McGill Music in Montreal, has twice attended the institute for 20th Century opera in Banff, Alberta, has an active vocal studio in New Orleans and has performed in every kind of singing theatre, from touring Broadway musicals, to Jazz, Cabaret and Contemporary Music Theatre.

In the Weeds: Getting Unstuck While Developing Your Show
with Lesley Tsina

There’s an interesting, and often endless-seeming middle ground between the raw idea for a show and a show with a shape. This is a workshop for getting unstuck. We’ll do  group writing and performing exercises to figure out what’s important to the story, and to you. And we’ll talk about strategies for finishing and next steps.  Please bring ideas, notes, sections, outlines, sources of inspiration and other half-finished thoughts.

Dates/Times: Saturday, June 13 @ 2:30 pm
Workshop duration: 2.5 hours
Intended for:  Writers/performers
Cost of workshop: $30
Class limit: 10 people maximum
